The newest member of the Moxa "Embedded Computer Force" will be ready to ship in September: UC-7408 is an Intel Xscale RISC based, front-end embedded computer with a robust, fanless, low power design

The newest member of our "Embedded Computer Force" will be ready to ship in September UC-7408 is an Intel Xscale RISC based, front-end embedded computer with a robust, fanless, and low power consumption design

UC-7408 features 8 digital input and 8 digital output channels, 8 RS-232/422/485 serial ports, dual 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, PCMCIA, and CF expansion slot.

8-ch digital input/8-ch digital output.

The new DI/DO feature of UC-7408 provides users with the convenience of connecting their digital devices to a front-end embedded computer.

UC-7408 can be used for on/off event handling by reading the state change of the digital input signal.

Output signals from external digital devices can be imported into UC-7408 DI channels.

UC-7408 can be programmed to take immediate action when it detects a change in the signal state.

The DO channels on UC-7408 can connect to devices and trigger digital output signals to control external digital devices.

The new DI/DO feature will let Moxa embedded computers support both data acquisition and protocol conversion via the RS-232/422/485 serial ports, and simple I/O control with the DI/DO signal.

UC-7408 is ideally suited for industrial automation, manufacturing, and applications that integrate serial communication and digital I/O signal control.

Linux ready platform.

UC-7408 comes with a Linux ready platform that has a pre-configured Linux OS with optimised onboard device drivers.

Linux open software architecture is good for developing application software.

Linux provides the system integrator and programmer with the option of developing their own application programmes, and software written for desktop PCs can be easily ported to the UC-7408 platform by using a GNU cross compiler, without needing to modify the code.

Powerful and Fanless.

The ultra low power consumption CPU (less than 2W) makes UC-7408 a high performance device that won't overheat.

Dual 10/100 Mbps LAN ports.

The 2 LAN ports with built-in IXP-422 provide you with a more reliable redundant network application, and hardware encryption (DES, 3DES, AES, etc) gives your applications better security protection and higher performance.

8 RS-232/422/485 3-in-1 serial ports.

The UC-7408 Series comes equipped with 8 RS-232/422/485 3-in-1 software configurable serial ports for various device connections, giving you an ample number of serial ports for any application.

Robust design for harsh environments.

UC-7408 uses an on-board flash for storage and CF for storage expansion, and with the RISC IXP-422 CPU, which generates almost no heat, no fan is needed to cool down the system, providing you with a more reliable system.

Wireless Expandability.

With UC-7408 wireless-ready design, just add the wireless PCMCIA card to make use of the wireless connection, both 802.11b and 802.11g are supported letting you eliminate the complications of using wired network connections.
