The SP-100 will enable the company to improve the precision, flexibility and cost-effectiveness of its processes for the manufacture of the optical filters used in all NDC Infrared Engineering sensors, systems and third party sales.
The optical filters are a key product component in the extensive range of NDC Infrared Engineering non-contact sensors and systems, allowing measurement of parameters including moisture, fat, protein and continuous web process variables such as coat-weight and film thickness.
The filters are also sold separately to third parties for use in gas sensors, astronomy, medical and general optics.
The SP-100 sputtering technology now gives NDC Infrared Engineering the capacity to manufacture small batches of optical filters more than 50% faster than with past manufacturing methods.
The lower operating costs achieved by using the SP-100 and the automated processes are benefits that are passed on to the end customer.
The SP-100 also allows the flexibility to switch product types quickly so as production efficiency can be opitmised.
"This investment will enable the development of improved products for existing applications which cover extended wavelength ranges and support the continuing development of our range of diverse sensors into new market applications," comments Peter Copsey, Operations Director, NDC Infrared Engineering.
