Static earthing equipment now ATEX
approved

The entire Cenelectrex range of static grounding and bonding equipment for controlling electrostatics in industrial hazardous atmospheres is now approved to the forthcoming ATEX directives

It is essential to ensure safe grounding and bonding procedures in order to prevent uncontrolled electrostatic discharges (sparks) from unearthed plant, equipment and personnel, as these sparks can easily provide an ignition source, resulting in a fire or explosion This established and field-proven range of equipment is already well known to Engineers and Safety Managers throughout Europe, but has recently received the latest approvals (ATEX 95) in readiness for the suite of ATEX directives that come into force at the end of June 2003

According to these new European Directives, engineers and managers of plants with potentially explosive atmospheres (PEA) must select appropriately certified equipment (electrical and mechanical) and also carry out a risk assessment of all operations taking place within the PEA in order to provide maximum safety to all employees.

The ATEX approvals gained by the Cenelectrex range enable them to be used in the widest possible range of industries in both Gas (Vapour) and Dust explosive atmospheres.

The unique range includes the Earth-Rite family of static grounding and bonding interlock systems that can prevent an operation starting until the correct static control measures are in place.

These are commonly used in applications where there is a risk or likelihood of conductive or static-dissipative plant items becoming isolated from earth, including temporary applications involving tankers, drums and IBCs and mixers, or permanent installations such as dryers, conveyors, and other specialised processing machinery.

Designed for more general use across the plant, self-testing grounding clamps provide visual verification to the operator of a satisfactory bond, as well as a wide range of purpose designed static grounding clamps, reels, retractable cables, test instruments and accessories.

Newson Gale are among the first companies in Europe to obtain ATEX approval for mechanical static grounding clamps.

This means customers can specify these with complete confidence, even for use in continuously present hazardous atmospheres, safe in the knowledge that they have been assessed and certified, taking into account such characteristics as materials of construction, potential energy, surface treatments etc Cenelectrex static control equipment is commonly used in many branches of the processing industries, including chemical, pharmaceutical, paints, coatings, food and beverage, oil and gas and is manufactured in the UK by Newson Gale.

The full range of equipment will also be displayed and demonstrated at Achema 2003, Frankfurt, (Hall/Stand 4.1, P19) - please visit the stand for more information on how Cenelectrex static control equipment can help you with ATEX 137 compliance. Request a free brochure from Newson Gale ...
