Adjustable nozzle dryers for better
agglomeration
The food and dairy division of Niro has recently developed the concept of adjustable nozzles in its spray dryers, enabling fine adjustment of powder properties
The new system allows the nozzles within the dryer to be moved in relation to each other to enable fine adjustments in the powder properties while the dryer is running Most dryers have nozzles that are fixed

Spray drying for novel processing of nanoparticles
Niro AS is playing an important role in what may well prove to be the start of the new industrial revolution: the production of materials and products using nanoparticles
The new system, however, has nozzles that can be moved closer together or farther apart to change the properties of the powder produced.
If, for example, a more agglomerated product is required, the nozzles can be moved progressively closer together until the desired formulation is achieved.
For a powder with less agglomeration, the nozzles are moved farther apart.
This adjustment can be made safely as the dryer is operating.
The greater flexibility allows the precise bulk density of the resulting powder to be matched precisely to requirements.
Niro is a member of the GEA Group and the world leader in spray drying.
This new concept is just the latest is a continuous programme of development from the company for drying technology in all market sectors.
