The two-wire version of the popular EchoTREK liquid level measurement system from Nivelco is now available with three different operating ranges, working up to 8 metres.
Trials were conducted with ultrasonic and radar level transmitters, and the best cost/performance ratio was achieved in these Wopfinger trials by the Nivelco MicroTREK, a contacting TDR level meter, frequently referred to as "guided radar".
Highest reliability in dramatically changing conditions, robustness and ease of handling were the features which convinced Wopfinger, and prompting the decision to equip all their 26 silos with MicroTREK units, at one of their plants close to Vienna.
All 26 transmitters are 2-wire units communicating via HART protocol with the host computer.
Having been installed in the winter of 2003 the system has performed without a hitch for over 8 months, to the greatest satisfaction of the user.
"The reliable level reporting of the MicroTREK provides for an increased plant efficiency," states the plant engineer.
