Versatility in bucket elevator manufacture
When gentle, quiet handling is needed during the manufacture of soap powder, Unilever use Nerak continuous and pendulum bucket elevators to convey their products
The original conveyor route was designed to hug the building line with a total of 8 transfer points and 7 drives.
As product degradation was one of the key considerations along with power consumption and space, USC decided to request the assistance of a company who specialised in bucket conveyors and who had all of the right attributes pertaining to technical and best practices when dealing with sugar.
Nerak was appointed, having the right qualities and with the capability to provide their unique rubber block belt drive system, which provides gentle and silent operation.
Nerak quickly identified a new route which required only 3 transfer points and 2 drives.
This new route was agreed as the best solution, as it took into account not only the number of transfer points and the gentle transfer - preventing product degradation along with reduced power requirements; but it also allowed for the inclusion of a dynamic weighing system built into one of the bucket elevators.
This eliminated the need for a separate weighing system either before or after the bucket conveyor route.
The dynamic weighing systems used are flexible and user friendly, providing batch weighing, dosing, sub and on-going totals as standard: plus it is easily configured to meet unique customer requirements.
