Human beings cause 70% of all accidents! Why - because humans are not robots. Humans can be distracted, irritated, ill, nervous and otherwise human. "Trapped Key Interlocking" provides the answer

All of us, even while well trained and educated, will lose 100% concentration occasionally Often, a minor failure will not cause a dramatic accident, however, unfortunately we all know examples of the disasters, which we do not need to mention

The answer to this problem is simple; "Trapped Key Interlocking".

The basic idea is simple - Guide the operator step by step while he operates valves, switches or doors that are part of a critical changeover procedure.

Think of Launcher and receiver, Pressure Valve changeover, Pump start up.

However, this integrated guidance should not affect the standard handling.

In other words; the "Trapped Key Interlocking" devices should be as "transparent" as possible.

The Netherlocks Trapped Key Interlocking devices are mounted to the host equipment in such away that they become in integral part of it.

The only extra step an operator has to make is sliding a uniquely coded key blade into the lock body.

In case the blade fits properly it unlocks the valve and this subsequently proves that the operator starts with the proper device within his sequential operation.

After operating the locks the initial inserted key will be trapped, while a second key can be released in case the lock is operated to the final position.

Releasing the second key assures that the lock has reached the proper position and that it is blocked against unauthorised operation.

It will easily be understood that such a system is foolproof and does not need any supervision.

Trapped Key Interlocks are widely used in the chemical, petrochemical, offshore and machine guarding industry, to guarantee a proper sequence and to eliminate human error.

The systems are immediately applicable, do not need any wiring or software, keep the operator aware of what he or she is doing, are explosion-proof and not vulnerable for temperature, vibration or external impact.

Many European standards recognise Trapped Key Interlocks as the solution to eliminate potential dangers caused by human factors.
