All employees can be up to speed on the very latest in resuscitation techniques as recently unveiled by the European Resuscitation Council, with help from specialist training company Optimum Training

Now all employees can be up to speed on the very latest in resuscitation techniques as recently unveiled by the European Resuscitation Council, as specialist training company Optimum Training, for only GBP2.50, will supply a handy DRAB card, which can be easily referred to in the event of an emergency (DRAB stands for Danger Response Airway Breathing) The new resuscitation guidelines are not set to be put into practice until as late as July/August but Optimum Training has already built the techniques into all of their training manuals as well as reproducing them onto the DRAB card

The new guidelines focus on a back-to-basics approach and are easier for the general public and healthcare professionals to learn.

The steps to successful resuscitation include.

* Adult - 30 compressions (use 2 hands, 100 compressions per minute), two breaths.

* Child - 5 breaths, 30 compressions (use 1 hand only in centre of chest, 100 compressions per minute), 2 breaths.

* Baby - 5 breaths (mouth to mouth and nose), 30 compressions (use 2 fingers only in centre of chest, 100 compressions per minute), 2 breaths.

Managing Director, Amanda Clarke, is recognised by many as the nation's leading expert on "casualty driven" workplace first aid issues.

Formerly a British Army trained medic, she has used her vast experience to develop a new and unique way of teaching first aid and holds courses throughout the North West and nationally.
