The newly designed BLF Series combines the attractive features of a brushless DC motor with powerful new enhancements including a wider speed range and multi-speed operation

The newly designed BLF Series from Oriental Motor, Japan's largest manufacturer of AC and stepper motors, combines the attractive features of a brushless DC motor with powerful new enhancements including a wider speed range and multi-speed operation Using the digital controller, users can draw the maximum performance out of the feature-rich BLF Series, such as high output, flat torque, excellent speed stability and energy saving operation - all within a compact size

The controller offers full driver functions and allows users to choose up to eight different speed settings using four speed-setting methods.

It also offers three speed display modes and allows users to specify various protection functions.

Two models are available with gearheads, one of which is a hollow shaft flat gearhead - ideal for unobtrusive conveyor installation.

Both gearheads are rated to 10,000 hours at 3,000rpm.

A third model offers a round shaft for custom installations or direct-drive applications.

The motor's compact and powerful design offers 120W output from a 90mm frame size across a speed range - between 80 to 4,000rpm.

The motor and digital controller are rated up to IP65 when an optional remote control is used, which can be mounted on the front panel of a control cabinet using a 3 or 5m cable.

Aimed primarily at conveyor applications this new CE-marked motor/gearbox/controller combination is suitable for application where higher speeds and wider torque ranges are required - especially in combination with the additional operability and adaptability offered by the controller.

The four speed setting methods will suit most applications; they include internal and external speed potentiometers, direct control from the digital controller or from an external voltage signal - switchable between 0 to 5 and 0 to 10V depending on what signal voltage is being used within the overall application.

Enhancing its robustness is the fact the Oriental Motor has chosen to separate the power and control cables.

As well as making the BLF Series less vulnerable to noise, it also allows the wiring distance to be increased to 20m with no affect on nominal performance.
