Outotec has agreed with Centenario Copper Chile for the delivery of a copper solvent extraction and electrowinning plant, for the Franke project, located in northern Chile

The Outotec scope of supply covers engineering, technology and proprietary equipment supplies, construction, commissioning, and performance tests The Franke copper plant will incorporate the latest Outotec technologies, such as the solvent extraction plant, including VSF (Vertical Smooth Flow) technology, the tank farm, and the electrowinning plant - using the Outotec permanent cathode and stripping technologies

The Outotec delivery time for the plant, which is designed to produce 30,000 tonnes of copper cathodes annually, is 15 months.

"Many mining companies are now exploring lower grade ore-bodies and are looking for technologies, which allow economical exploitation of these resources", explains Tapani Jarvinen, President and CEO of Outotec: "With the average copper grade of 0.9%, the Franke deposit is a good example of this development.

Outotec technologies offer lower energy consumption and minimum operating costs, making it a viable solution for the customer".

The contract price is approximately EUR 30 million.
