for China

Outotec has agreed with Shougang Jingtang United Iron and Steel Co on the delivery of new environmentally sound technology for the Shougang iron ore pelletising plant to be built in Caofeidan, China

Shougang Jingtang is a joint venture between the Shougang Group and the Tangshan Iron and Steel Company The pelletising plant is part of the Shougang plan to relocate its operations from Beijing to Caofeidan

The Outotec modern traveling grate technology is environmentally sound and has therefore been chosen for the project.

The Outotec scope of delivery covers the basic and detail engineering, supply of proprietary equipment, instrumentation and control systems, supervisory services as well as technical training.

The core of the plant is the Outotec pellet indurating furnace, which has a grate area of 505m.

Part of the Outotec services and supplies will be of Chinese origin.

The plant will be the first larger size plant in China using modern traveling grate technology.

It will treat annually 4 million tonnes of iron ore and the pellet production is estimated to start at the end of 2009.

"This order from Shougang Jingtang demonstrates the competitiveness of the Outotec clean technologies.

Investing in latest technology brings several benefits, for example better recoveries or larger output, lower energy and water consumption, smaller emissions, and improved working conditions.

Today, these are decisive factors in industrial investments in China", says Tapani Jarvinen, President and CEO of Outotec.

The contract value for Outotec is approximately EUR29million.
