The Health and Safety Executive take an increasingly hard line with industries where reel lifting is necessary, to avoid some of the 33,000 back related injuries obtained at work in the UK each year

According to statistics, 33,000 back related injuries are obtained at work in the UK each year: that is more than 125 every day Ponder too on the fact that back problems account for 80 million days off work in the UK

Unbelievably, this adds up to a third of a million man years of work lost each 12 months.

No wonder the Health and Safety Executive take an increasingly hard line with industries where reel lifting is necessary.

Add the fact that many personal injury firms push employees to sue at the slightest twinge - and there is a problem which is not going to go away.

Matt Payne, Director of Packline is more aware of this than most.

'Even if lifting reels weighing as little as 15kg, Health and Safety procedure will probably recommend powered assistance if positioning above shoulder height,' he says.

'Which is where our Compac reel lifting machine comes into its own.

It is designed to reduce likelihood of injury, reduce downtime and reduce damage of stock during transportation'.

Measuring just 19in wide, Packline claim the machine is powerful, highly manoeuvrable and simple to use.

They explain that its five lifting attachments provide for most reel lifting applications, catering for loads of up to 250kg and reel diameters up to 1 metre.

Manufactured in hygienic stainless steel, Packline suggest that the Compac is ideal in food and dairy processing, pharmaceutical and medicinal, brewing and chemical industries.

The lack of potentially messy hydraulics adds to its desirability for such environments.

Matt Payne says, 'Knowing the problems of cost, size and versatility our Compac range wins on all counts.

We at Packline are convinced that anyone looking for this kind of equipment should call us to get the full picture'.

A free 5 minute demonstration CD is available to any interested parties.
