Packaging Automation has completed phase one of a five year business strategy with the launch of a high speed filling, pot sealing and over capping machine, the Fastfill100

Packaging Automation has completed phase one of a five year business strategy with the launch of a high speed filling, pot sealing and over capping machine, the Fastfill100 The Fastfill100 is the third machine in the new generation Fastfill range and follows the earlier launches of the Fastfill40 and Fastfill60 machines, which are proving extremely popular in the market

Following extensive market research, the business identified shortcomings in the existing supplier base with reference to machinery function and service levels.

Packaging Automation set out to revolutionise the industry by offering a customer driven approach which addressed the failings of the current range of machinery available, challenged traditional designs and offered the level of service expected by end users.

The Fastfill100 is the culmination of rapid development in line with market trends for flexible filling equipment that gives users a logical equipment progression line as their businesses develop, offering a range of machines - to purchase or hire - to meet all production needs.

The high volume machine can achieve a maximum throughput of up to 100 pots per minute filled and sealed depending on the nature and viscosity of the product being filled.

Typical products that can be filled and sealed by the latest Packaging Automation machine include drinks, yoghurts, cream, sauces, dips, dressings, liquid desserts, soup, delicatessen and salad products.

The Fastfill100 has the versatility to easily accommodate dry products, such as cereals, nuts and confectionery, as well as liquids and semi-viscous products with particulates.

A combination of layered dry and liquid, or liquid and particulate product, can also be handled with no loss in performance.

A diverse range of packaging can be accommodated by the machine up to a maximum diameter of 130mm and depth of 140mm.

The machine seals pre-cut lids, as well as film from roll stock material and a date coder can be accommodated for each.

Product and pot changeovers are easier and quicker as a result of the cleverly designed table which is manufactured in quadrants.

Changeover times are reduced by 30-40 per cent compared to previous volumetric machines, and are further facilitated by lighter and simpler change parts.

These design features are complemented by the machine's advanced controls.

A touch screen stores up to 50 programmes for different recipes that are quickly recalled for product changes.

It incorporates on-screen real time adjustment of all operating parameters, including fill weights, seal time, film feed and gas flush options to ensure smooth, high volume throughput.

The machine boasts a fill accuracy of +/- 0.1% for smooth products and +/- 1% with particulates.

Self-diagnostics for error reporting also minimise any downtime.

The Fastfill100, like all others in the range, is manufactured in stainless steel.

It has an easily removed filler system, lid applier, heat sealer, overcapper and outfeed conveyor for quick access to all areas for cleaning.

That is further eased by its open layout, whilst the team has designed out typical bug traps found in traditional designs.

The Packaging Automation sales manager, Neil Ashton, said: "We are in constant touch with the market and deliver what the market wants.

As well as standard machines, we can bespoke a design specifically to meet a customer need.

Our engineering skills base is second to none and we believe this is reflected in the design, functionality and ease of operation of the Fastfill100.".
