The on-going commitment of Packaging Automation to encouraging young people to undertake engineering apprenticeships is well known.
And Tanya herself, alongside former Packaging Automation award winning apprentice Katie Welsh, has visited schools in the region to talk about engineering and encourage pupils to consider it as a worthwhile, challenging career.
Since starting her apprenticeship with the company which manufactures high quality tray sealing and filling equipment, Tanya has worked in a number of departments to get a sound grounding in the skills she needs to continue her successful career.
She has also undertaken several qualifications alongside her practical learning.
Delighted with her win, Tanya said: "Packaging Automation has given me a wonderful opportunity - not something I would ever have experienced in South Africa.
There are good prospects for me here and I will be continuing with my training and learning to progress further.
This is a fantastic company to work for and I have received excellent support from everyone throughout my apprenticeship".
Chairman Anthony Penn said: "We place a high value on training and are committed to helping our apprentices reach their full potential.
It is very rewarding for Tanya to have her hard work and talent recognised outside the company.
We will continue to train young people in-house - something we believe is important due to the on-going lack of skilled engineers in the UK".
