Packaging Automation, the leading UK designer and manufacturer of packaging systems, will attend the MEDTEC / MTEC exhibition as it establishes its presence in the medical packaging sector

Packaging Automation, the leading UK designer and manufacturer of packaging systems, will attend the MEDTEC exhibition in Birmingham, alongside MTEC in February next February, as it establishes its presence in the medical packaging sector The company, which has recently won orders with a number of leading medical device manufacturers, designs and manufactures equipment to automate packaging processes for a wide range of sterile medical devices and surgical instruments including implants, diagnostics kits, wound dressings and procedure kits

Using over 40 years expertise, Packaging Automation offers a number of suitably designed machines which offer the highest quality seal, comply with strict hygiene standards and offer pack validation - all vital requirements in the medical industry.

On display at the exhibition - which will showcase the complete range of product and service resources for designing, manufacturing and packing medical devices and equipment - will be a PA178 pre-formed tray and blister sealing machine.

This is a semiautomatic, rotary table machine which can seal pre-cut lids (Tyvek, medical paper, flexible foil or plastic) to any compatible pre-formed tray or blister.

This model can also be supplied with a reel fed lidding option for lidding material supplied on a reel.

The lid can be trimmed to the shape of the blister during the heat sealing process.

Amongst the Packaging Automation recent successes is the supply of a twin base rotary sealing machine to seal precision engineered medical implants into sterile blister packs at a site in the North of England.

The twin based rotary machine supplied is fitted with a direct pressure transducer to record the seal force applied.

If the seal force is outside pre-set parameters the pack is rejected.

A thermal printer is incorporated to provide a comprehensive record of force applied, seal time, quantity sealed and other important details to allow full traceability.

In addition to seeing the capabilities of the PA178 machine on display, visitors to the Packaging Automation stand will also be able to discuss packaging solutions and find out how they can make use of the company's fully equipped test facilities to carry out development work with packaging concepts and materials, as well as testing and performance trials.
