The meter accurately measures ammonia across the full spectrum of normal regulatory levels, helping to ensure waste waters have ammonia levels within Discharge Consent limits.
Used in conjunction with a specially designed reagent dispenser, performing the test is simple, even in extreme conditions such as high winds or heavy rain.
Based on the standard Nessler method, the first reagent is supplied in a Tubetest sealed test tube, the second in the dispenser.
After the sample is added to the first reagent, the second reagent is simply added from the dispenser.
After one minute the tube is inserted in the meter and two buttons pressed.
The ammonia concentration is then displayed on a 10mm LCD screen.
The ammonia meter is equally suitable for use in laboratories and treatment plants, and for direct field testing.
It has dual measurement ranges of 0-15 and 0-50 mg/litre N.
Supplied in a splashproof case with membrane keypad, the meter measures 173 x 75 x 41mm and is powered by two 1.5V batteries.
Ammonia levels reveal the efficiency of sewage and industrial effluent treatment plants.
All ammonia should be reduced to relatively harmless nitrate and nitrite.
Because ammonia is harmful to aquatic life, treatment plants will have a 'Consent' to discharge effluents to receiving waters with ammonia content typically in the 10-12mg/litre Nitrogen range.
