Partech Instruments has announced that it is to start manufacturing a new design of water quality data logger that will enable users to undertake multi-parameter analysis and monitoring tasks Designed in the UK by Ecolog Systems, the Multi-Tech instrument is a portable unit suitable for use by environmental agencies, a wide range of industry sectors and research establishments

The Multi-Tech is a portable sonde comprising Dissolved Oxygen, Temperature, Conductivity, pH and Depth Probes; supplemented by one or two ISE's.

The unit can be set up to log at intervals from between 30 seconds and 99 hours.

Typically, a fully charged battery will allow the logger to record all parameters for one month, when set up to log at 15 minute intervals.

Two purpose-designed software programmes have been developed for the Multi-Tech: the Multi-Link, which allows the user to communicate with the logger remotely and the Multi-View, which provides real-time communication with the logger.

The software enables the user to calibrate, select parameters for real-time readings, and set up a logger profile for remote logging and to initiate data logging.

Using the data stored in CSV format, the user can transfer the data into any spreadsheet package as well as produce dual parameter graphs.

The Multi-View package allows the user to display simultaneously real-time readings of all data channels and to set alarms on all data channels.

In addition, a GSM communications device, SKYcon, offers the capability to establish a remote communications link between Multi-Tech and a base station for data analysis and reprogramming the logger.

"The development of the Multi-Tech has involved extensive site trials undertaken by Ecolog Systems Ltd and the University of Coventry," reports Angus Fosten, Partech Instruments.

"Partech's involvement with Ecolog Systems has been to take the instrument from the concept stage through to a finished product that sits alongside other monitoring systems within our portfolio.".
