Pavilion Technologies, a world leader in model-based software, announces that Amaizing Energy has selected the Pavilion Model Predictive Control ethanol solution for its Denison, Iowa plant

Pavilion Technologies, a world leader in model-based software, announced today that Amaizing Energy has selected the Pavilion Model Predictive Control (MPC) ethanol solution for its Denison, Iowa plant This deployment represents the first plant-wide implementation of the Pavilion ethanol control solution and includes applications to improve the processes of the entire dry mill plant

This marks the 17th ethanol company to elect for Pavilion solutions to enhance performance and achieve environmental compliance.

As fuel prices in the United States reach record highs, the nation is turning to ethanol fuel as a viable alternative.

In addition, recent legislation such as the Renewable Fuels Standard, which aims to double the use of ethanol by 2012, has created a demand that far outstrips supply of ethanol fuel.

To quickly capitalise on this demand, ethanol manufacturers must implement strategies to increase production of high quality ethanol at a lower cost.

The Pavilion ethanol solution comprises a suite of advanced process control and production performance management applications that enable manufacturers to significantly reduce energy use, increase ethanol production and enhance product yields, while achieving emissions compliance.

"The Pavilion Model Predictive Control solution has delivered considerable benefits for our peers in the ethanol manufacturing industry," said Amaizing Energy General Manager Al Jentz.

"This track record of success gave us the confidence to elect a plant-wide control solution that integrates all unit operations from the fermenter to the dryer to ensure we drive maximum production and efficiency 24 hours a day".

Through its ValueFirst customer engagement methodology, Pavilion has estimated that Amaizing Energy will achieve two times the return on investment within 12 months through.

* 10% increased production.

* 5% reduced energy costs.

* Enhanced product quality and yield.

"As the pressure to deliver more ethanol to consumers mounts, manufacturers like Amaizing Energy realise that they must constantly strive to find the best approaches to maximise production today," said Pavilion Technologies CEO, Ralph Carter.

"The Amaizing Board of Directors vote of confidence in our plant-wide model predictive control solution not only validates the strength of our ethanol solution, but also the rapid return on investment our company delivers".

The Pavilion Ethanol Solution has helped major producers increase production capacity and yield, reduce costs, enhance product quality and maintain environmental compliance.

Pavilion provides a suite of advanced process control and emissions compliance applications across all key areas of the manufacturing process - from milling to distillation.

The Pavilion Ethanol Solution leverages the powerful Pavilion8 technology, an integrated software suite which enables ethanol companies to drive operational performance to desired business objectives while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Pavilion8 combines powerful technology for modeling, control, monitoring, analysis, visualization and integration to provide targeted solutions, delivering faster time-to-value and greater cumulative value than alternative solutions.

Pavilion software - Pavilion8 - combines powerful predictive and dynamic control capabilities which allow manufacturers to more effectively control complex processes exhibited in the production of ethanol.

With the Pavilion control solution, ethanol manufacturers have improved the performance of the dryer, evaporator, thermal oxidiser, mole sieve distillation and other stages of the production cycle.

Most customers report a payback in 2 - 6 months on projects completed in 8 - 16 weeks.
