High-performance servo motor range just
got better

Parker Hannifin Electromechanical Automation Division has announced enhancements and additions to its high-performance SMH rotary brushless servo motor family

Parker Hannifin Electromechanical Automation Division has announced enhancements and additions to its high-performance SMH rotary brushless servo motor family New to the range are three new complementary frame sizes and, in addition, SinCos absolute feedback has been added to the company's small frame motors

The new SMH40 motor, the smallest servo motor offered by Parker Hannifin, has a flange size of just 40mm square.

The motor is offered with continuous torque rating options of 0.2 and 0.35Nm and a 6,000rpm winding for use with 230VAC drive types.

Extending the high-power end of the SMH range, the SMH115 motor has a flange size of 115mm and a continuous torque rating of 10Nm, whilst the SMH142, with a flange size of 142mm, has a continuous torque rating of 15Nm.

Both motor frames are offered with a range of winding speed options, from 1,600rpm to 5,600rpm, permitting operation with 230/400VAC drive types.

All SMH motors are specified with a peak torque rating of three times the continuous torque and are available with either resolver, single- or multi-turn absolute SinCos feedback.

Through the use of innovative "salient pole" technology, the dimensions of the SMH family of motors are drastically reduced.

Compared to traditional-technology brushless servo motors, the specific torque is about 30% higher, overall dimensions are considerably reduced and, as a consequence, rotor inertias are extremely low.

The SMH family of brushless servo motors provide a harmonised range with torques from 0.2 to 15Nm, speeds up to 10,000rpm and a range of six models - all with a high degree of flexibility on shaft and flange size options.

Specific applications areas for the SMH series motors include any type of automatic machinery, in particular in the product packaging and handling industry, and any applications where very high dynamic performance and very low inertias are required.

Full details on the SMH family of servo motors can be found on Parker Hannifin's Electromechanical Automation division's website. Request a free brochure from Parker Hannifin Electromechanical Automation ...
