Nitrogen generation system cuts operating costs
Rockwood Electronic Materials is using the Parker Hannifin innovative NitroSource nitrogen generation system to produce a consistent and controllable supply of nitrogen on-site
The Parker NitroSource system is based on hollow fibre membrane technology, which separates air into nitrogen and an oxygen-enriched air stream.
Equipped with a digital data management system, parameters such as flow, pressure and residual oxygen concentration can be monitored, stored and communicated to other devices or control systems.
The NitroSource system provides users with a raft of benefits.
These include eliminating the inconveniences and costs of cylinder gas as well as the reliance on external deliveries and outside vendors.
This, in turn, means that the storage space and costs involved with cylinders are removed, long term cost stability is assured and - just as importantly - users can control their own supply by providing the volume and purity required.
Applications for nitrogen include the provision of inert atmospheres for laser prototyping and laser cutting and in engine-testing cells where it is used as a purging gas both before and after test runs.
It is also gaining favour in the aftermarket as a tyre filling medium as it does not leech out of tyres quite as readily as standard atmospheric compressed air.
It is the favoured tyre filling medium not only for formula one but also for the world's aviation industry.
These benefits are not only being realised by the automotive industry, as Parker has seen both the need and the growing acceptance of a regular, controllable and manageable nitrogen stream across the food industry and the pharmaceutical sector to name but a few.
Indeed, those that have installed NitroSource hardware have had no reason to revert back to bottled supplies. Request a free brochure from Parker Hannifin - Filtration Division ...
