Parker Oilcheck helps extend engine life

Parker Hannifin Filter Division has re-launched its innovative portable, hand-held monitor, designed to show when changes in engine oil condition occur

The Filter Division of Parker Hannifin, the world's largest manufacturer of motion and control technologies, has re-launched its innovative portable, hand-held monitor, designed to show when changes in engine oil condition occur Assisting in extended engine operating life expectation thus reduces the cost of ownership

Called Oilcheck, the monitor works by analysing the dielectric constant of oil samples when comparisons are made to a recognised reference sample.

It is ideal for use by industrial and commercial engineers and mechanics involved in the servicing and maintenance of commercial vehicles, construction plant and mobile equipment.

Contamination in oils is generally caused by oxidation and the build up of acids, both of which can form as a result of the normal operation of an engine, or from materials such as dirt, soot, fuel, water, anti-freeze and metal particles that occur as a result of excessive wear or failure of internal mechanical components or gaskets.

In each case, contamination can reduce engine efficiency, leading to an increase in operating and maintenance costs and can cause engine failure.

Oilcheck helps maintenance engineers identify contamination changes before it becomes a problem.

The system is quick and simple to use and works by measuring the dielectric constant of oil samples, using a baseline reading taken from a clean oil sample against which contaminated samples can subsequently be tested.

Readings are displayed both as a numeric value and on a simple-to-read, circular red/green efficiency scale; used together, these displays allow a gradual change in oil quality to be recorded and, in samples where contamination has reached a critical level, for a problem to be identified immediately.

The Oilcheck unit provides accurate and repeatable results, is small and lightweight, features a tough, impact resistant case manufactured from ABS, and runs from a single 9V battery. Request a free brochure from Parker Hannifin - Filtration Division ...
