Pruftechnik Condition Monitoring, supplier of vibration-based measuring systems for machinery, has launched the first energy-independent Condition Monitoring system with wireless data transmission

At last - No more battery changes - No problems of external power supplies or batteries Vibnode RFA, a flexible, compact product for vibration monitoring of fixed-speed rotating machines, was introduced at the Hannover Messe this year

Vibnode RFA combines innovative energy collection, modern wireless technology and advanced measurement engineering in a single product.

Unlike conventional vibration measurement devices, Vibnode RFA harnesses power from the vibration energy of the monitored machines.

Energy utilisation is most efficient at speeds of 1500 - 3800 rpm.

No power supply and no cabling are required.

Compared to the installation of a conventional on-line system, in which 30-50% of costs go into installation and cabling, Vibnode RFA is far less expensive to deploy.

Apart from these savings, this revolutionary product is also exceptional in its simpler roll out.

Pruftechnik Condition Monitoring developed Vibnode RFA in a joint effort with two strong partners: Nanotron Technologies, market leader for tested wireless technology, and Perpetuum, world-renowned developer and manufacturer of "Vibration Energy Harvesting".

"We are delighted to have worked with Pruftechnik and Nanotron to bring this wireless condition monitoring solution to market," says Roy Freeland, CEO Perpetuum: "The result of this collaboration will allow plant operators and managers to improve efficiency through timely and accurate management of plant assets".

The Vibnode RFA system consists of three parts: an intelligent monitoring module for energy collection, signal processing and transmission, and two combination sensors for collecting vibration acceleration values and temperature.

One or more Vibnode RFA monitoring modules transmit the measuring results to an access point, the third part of the system.

Each sensor is roughly the size of a one Euro coin.

Because the sensors and monitoring module are physically separated, the sensors can be optimally positioned at the measuring locations without having to compromise on the direction of wireless transmission.

Naturally, the system is fully integrated in Omnitrend, permitting simple visualisation, evaluation and archiving of the characteristic values and spectra.
