PICME and Humber Chemical Focus are showing the best modern industrial practice in process manufacturing at a workshop on April 27th in Grimsby, a free of charge event for UK process manufacturers

PICME, the Process Industry Centre for Manufacturing Excellence, and Humber Chemical Focus are showing the best modern industrial practice in process manufacturing at a workshop for the industry on Tuesday April 27th at Grimsby's prestigious Europarc Innovation Centre The event - free of charge for UK process manufacturers - will include afternoon sessions on plant maintenance, including experience with applying TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)

Maintenance and reliability remain a critical issue for many process manufacturers.

The April 27 speakers will provide useful guidelines on how they have improved quality as well as obtained a higher throughput, reduced risk and improved returns on investment.

Programme speakers lined up for the April 27 event include Unilever, Johnson Matthey, PICME and the UK's Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Industry take-up is anticipated to be high and, with a limited number of seats available on a first-come first-served basis, early booking is advised.

PICME chief executive Mark Lewis says that 'all from the process industries - chemicals, pharmaceuticals, plastics, food and beverage - will be welcome and will have something to learn from the material on show'.

Lewis says 'we are delighted to be partnering Humber Chemical Focus in this way and to be bringing PICME's core messages and expertise to the day's activities'.

The morning sessions of the workshop will give a very good flavour of the tools and techniques involved in: performance measurement; novel processes; throughput performance improvement, greater production flexibility, and faster times to market for new products'.

The April 27 workshop is one of a series of regular seminars jointly organised by the Chemical Industries Association (CIA) Manufacturing Committee and PICME in order to address key issues in the sector.

A seminar on People and Skills Development is currently being planned for November this year.
