Furthermore, a part of the electricity still needs to be purchased from external suppliers.
To deal with the complexity of the system, some internal and external developed tools are used.
The Braskem team decided that they needed additional tools to better answer their questions and to reach the optimal operating configuration for the plant.
The choice of Braskem went on Ariane, a power plant dedicated software that determines the operating parameters which enable the lowest energy cost.
Through an evaluation period, Ariane proved its value adding potential.
Mr Victor Matta Pires, Process Engineer, explains: "The flexibility of the software allowed us to represent accurately our power plant.
It appeared clearly that Ariane will lead our plant to the optimal operation point".
During this test phase, ProSim support responded positively to expectations with quick answers.
Since implementation, late 2003, Ariane enabled Braskem to identify more efficient configurations and to retrieve tangible benefits, measured against historical data collected from the process.
