TICE-CAPE: a new tool to learn CAPE
fundamentals
ProSim, the developer of simulation and optimisation software, has released TICE-CAPE, a self-learning course to learn and master the fundamental aspects of Computer Assisted Process Engineering
ProSim, the French developer of simulation and optimisation software, has released TICE-CAPE, a self-learning course to learn and master the fundamental aspects of CAPE (Computer Assisted Process Engineering) and process simulation TICE-CAPE is produced by Vincent Gerbaud, Researcher CNRS at the Laboratoire de Genie Chimique (Toulouse/France) and member of the Computer Aided Process Analysis research team of the Process System Engineering department

TICE-CAPE is an interactive tool that will enable the user to rigorously build a flowsheet, analyse the different parameters of a process and understand the results of a simulation.
In particular, the course covers the different aspects of process design, the global or sequential methods used to solve a process simulation problem and an overview of simulation software.
The different topics are addressed through a slide-show based course, several multiple choice questionnaires, and practical exercises to be conducted with ProSimPlus, the ProSim steady state process simulator.

ProSim is an independent company, founded in 1989, with its headquarter in Labege (Toulouse - France).
The company provides state of the art simulation and optimisation software that allows process industries to increase their efficiency and their return on investment.
ProSim solutions are designed for applications in the chemical, the refining, the gas treatment and the specialty chemicals industries as well as in the pharmaceutical, the food processing and the energy industries.
Its activities also comprise engineering process consulting and custom software development.
ProSim solutions are used to improve process design, increase plant efficiency and reduce their impact on environment.
Thanks to long term partnerships with major research centres and to substantial investment in R and D, ProSim continuously develops innovative software and has become a recognised player on the international market.
The success of the company comes from the efficiency and the robustness of the solutions and of the calculation packages it proposes, but also from the quality of the services it provides.
The expertise and the know-how of ProSim personnel covers vast domains, including thermodynamics, physico-chemical phenomenon modelling, process simulation, energy integration, optimisation techniques, numerical methods, software architecture, and GUI development.
ProSim is active in 43 countries around the world, with over 470 customers among which major actors like Air Liquide, Akzo Nobel, Alfa Laval, Arkema, Braskem, Ciba, Cognis, EDF, Linde, Pharmacia, Praxair, Schering, Sintef, Sanofi-Synthelabo, Technip, Total and Wacker.
