Industrial insulation explained Pittsburgh Corning has re-launched the Foamglas industrial insulation website foamglas.co.uk to give instant access to safety data and outline installation specifications The site also has an expanded section on product applications, improved functionality and enhanced online capabilities making it easier for users to request detailed thermal/insulation thickness calculations as well as a wide range of literature

The new site is designed to better inform specifiers, contractors and end users of cellular glass insulation.

In every industry corrosion under insulation is becoming a major issue.

The site looks at corrosion and ways of using insulation to prevent it.

Fire safety is also a major concern: the new site looks at the use of Foamglas to protect process pipe-work, vessels and fire-wall penetrations against the effects of fire.

Foamglas cellular glass is a unique insulation material.

It is manufactured from 100% pure glass (of which two-thirds is post-consumer recycledwaste) and contains no CFCs, HCFCs, HFAs or Pentane.

It is effective from -273C (absolute zero) to +482C, is non-combustible, non-toxic and emits no fumes/gases.

It is totally impervious to moisture of any kind and will not wick any chemical leakages.
