Pro2Pac seminar programme finalised

A Pro2Pac product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Feb 23, 2009

The programme has been finalised for the Packaging Innovation at Pro2Pac seminars, sponsored by Wrap and taking place during the Pro2Pac exhibition from 15-18 March at London's Excel.

The seminars promise a line-up of industry experience and expertise with the organisers taking a two-pronged approach to the topics.

While the ever-present theme of sustainability will remain number one on the agenda, issues around packaging design will also play a large part in the proceedings, with a number of senior specialists in the field on hand to explain why.

Stephen Lilliford, co-director at Design Perspectives, will explore the importance of understanding consumer insight to develop products and packaging.

He will be followed by Ben Mortimer a senior designer, who will explain how the concept is applied at Nestle.

Taking into consideration the current economic climate, Tim Corvin, marketing director at Webb Scarlett de Vlam, will talk about the challenges of designing in a new world.

Meanwhile Walter Lewis, managing director at Faraday, will explore how brands can best prepare for product and pack success.

The theme of environmental sustainability is likely to thread through the majority of presentations but will be specifically linked to design by James Dorrell, environmental design adviser at Giraffe Innovation, who will be explaining the true meaning of carbon footprint.

Meanwhile, Haulwen Nicholas, senior packaging technologist at Wrap, will delve into the current hot topic of how to reduce food waste through packaging.

Continuing along the eco-design theme, Dr Tracy Bhamra, a reader in sustainable design at Loughborough University, will explore the topic of eco-pack attitude, focusing on how sustainable design can be used to change consumer behaviour for the better.
