High durability sensor is reliable under shock
Designer and manufacturer of high precision sensing technology, Penny + Giles, has launched a new rotary position sensor using proven, non-contact Hall effect technology
Penny + Giles, designer and manufacturer of high precision sensing technology, has launched a new rotary position sensor.
SRH280 uses proven, non-contact Hall effect technology to provide OEMs with reliable and accurate rotary measurement in extreme industrial environments.
Unlike potentiometer sensors, the SRH280 can operate in high dither vibration conditions with no deterioration of the sensing element due to the non-contacting operating principle.
It is therefore an attractive alternative for applications such as position monitoring of valve, steering and throttle positions on industrial machinery and vehicles.
The sensor provides an electrical output over the full 360 range and is available with a 10bit microprocessor.
A 12bit version is in development and will be launched in early 2006.
For ease of configuration, it is available with an analogue (0.5 to 4.5Vdc) or digital (pulse width modulated) signal output.
With no electrical sliding contacts SRH280 offers an almost limitless sensor life.
SRH280 is presented in the popular 28mm diameter flanged, dust-proof and waterproof corrosion resistant polymer housing with a protection rating to IP68.
It has an integral moulded cable assembly that negates the need for a heat-shrinkable boot.
Crush-proof mounting flanges feature steel inserts which protect the casing from the possibility of damage from over-tightened mounting bolts.
As a result, it can be repositioned as many times as necessary, unlike traditional designs which often have to be discarded after only one use.
There is a choice of a D-shaped or 'sprung ear' shaft, both compatible with existing de-facto industry standards for straightforward inter-changeability on existing equipment.
