The RoHS Directive complements the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive, both set up by the European Commission to protect the environment from increasing levels of electrical waste in landfill sites.
The Directive states that new electrical and electronic equipment sold in the EU must not contain more than certain levels of restricted material including; Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd), Hexavalent Chromium (CrVI), Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB) and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE).
Manufacturers continuing to supply products with high levels of restricted substances can face criminal and monetary fines as well as potential sales bans and product recalls of their product in EU countries.
Every product manufactured by Penny + Giles, that falls under the scope of the RoHS Directive, is intended to comply with the defined requirement while continuing to satisfy high quality product performance and availability.
