ProMinent Fluid Controls has produced a new variant of its fully equipped mobile chemical dosing trailers for UK Water Authorities, transportable to provide emergency drinking water supplies

ProMinent Fluid Controls (UK) has produced a new variant of its fully equipped mobile chemical dosing trailers for UK Water Authorities This latest version is designed for dechlorination duties and can be readily transported to any location for emergency dosing of chemicals to maintain drinking water supplies

It can be used when emergency reservoirs need to be brought on line to supply potable water, or for dechlorination following emergency disinfection of a water supply.

Many water authorities have underground emergency reservoirs.

As these stand until they are needed, they are chlorinated to levels higher than that used for drinking water and must be dechlorinated before use.

Emergency disinfection of standard water supplies can also result in higher levels of chlorine.

Again the water needs to be dechlorinated before it can enter the public supply.

The dechlorination trailer is equipped with two 140L tanks for sodium bisulphite and has 4 gamma/L precision dosing pumps, arranged in duty/standby configurations.

Two pumps have output capacity up to 16L/hr, while the other two operate up to 10L/hr.

Power is supplied via a compressor.

Built-in failsafe facilities include level alarms for each tank and an auto-changeover in the event of pump failure.

Other trailers available from ProMinent are equipped for sodium hypochlorite dosing or with a Bello Zon chlorine dioxide generator to allow chlorine dioxide to be used as the disinfectant.

This means that an emergency disinfection system can be deployed anywhere within a local area within hours should there be a disinfection failure to a drinking water supply.

The units can also be used to provide 'top up' disinfection during routine maintenance on parts of the distribution system.
