The new Polytec LSV-300 Laser Surface Velocimeter for non-contact, online measurement, inspection and control of velocity and length in continuous process industries such as steel, paper and glass

Polytec, a provider of advanced, light-based measurement systems has released the new LSV-300 Laser Surface Velocimeter for non-contact, online measurement, inspection and control of velocity and length in continuous process industries such as steel, metals, paper, plastic, glass and building materials Specifically designed to be easy to install, setup and integrate into control systems, these instruments are an essential step to reducing scrap, increasing uptime and improving material throughput

The LSV directly replaces traditional, high-maintenance, problematic contact measurement techniques with accurate, low-maintenance, next-generation, non-contact laser technology.

The LSV-300 is the most versatile velocimeter on the market and value-engineered for an extremely attractive price performance ratio.

Utilising industry-proven heterodyne technology to deliver the highest quality speed and length measurement, the LSV-300 can also distinguish between forward, reverse and standstill motion conditions.

With stand-off distances of 500 or 900 mm and a 60 mm depth-of-field, the LSV-300 can measure speeds up to 2,500 m/min with an accuracy of 0.05%.

A two-line LCD displays the velocity and length in English or Metric units.

A state-of-the-art signal processor provides output data quickly and communicates across high speed RS-232 or RS-422 interfaces (max 230 kbit/s).

The Polytec LSV sensor head and the signal processor integrate into control systems via Ethernet, encoder or other process control interfaces.

The rugged, compact sensor head (9.5 in x 4.7 in x 2.5 in) is designed for measurements of online production processes.

Optional protective housings and air purge devices are available for extreme or harsh conditions.

For simplified process, observation and analysis options, the LSV software is Windows 2000 and XP compatible.
