Sir Digby Jones, now Lord Digby Jones of Birmingham, will officially open the PPMA Show on 30th September

Lord Digby Jones was made Minister of State for Trade and Investment in 2007 For six and a half years to June 2006, he served as Director-General of the CBI, where he regularly visited businesses in the UK and worldwide

During this time he took the British business message to 70 different countries, frequently meeting with political, business and media figures in the United Kingdom and around the world.

"We are very honoured that Lord Jones has agreed to open the Show," comments PPMA Chief Executive Chris Buxton: "This will give a huge boost to the profile of the event, as well as giving a well-regarded senior government minister an opportunity to engage directly with British manufacturers".

Details of the schedule for Lord Digby Jones are being finalised but it will include a walk around the exhibition, enabling him to view some of the latest developments and innovations, and witness the high levels of expertise within the processing and packaging machinery sectors.

This year the PPMA Show will be co-located with Interplas, the leading UK plastics and rubber exhibition which, for the first time, also incorporates the Inspex feature, focusing on the quality control and measurement industries.

"The PPMA Show provides an excellent showcase of the very best of British manufacturing" comments Exhibition Director Liz Finlay: "We are sure Lord Jones will be impressed with what he sees and will also be interested to hear the views of exhibitors on a variety of industry topics".

The PPMA Show takes place from September 30th to October 2nd 2008.
