As well as supplying A-Lok tube fittings fabricated from conventional 316 stainless steel, Parker will manufacture significant quantities using Hastelloy and 6Mo alloys.
These exotic materials provide a high degree of protection against the corrosive 'sour' gas prevalent in the Qatar offshore North Field, and will be employed at critical points to ensure system integrity and a long lifecycle.
The agreement for offshore applications is with the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contractor J Ray McDermott Middle East who won the contract from Dolphin Energy to provide two integrated drilling and production platform complexes.
Following technical evaluation, a major factor in the Parker success was the company's strong local supply chain.
For this project, the Parker Dubai-based distributor Supertec will be holding large stocks of tube fittings for rapid delivery to the EPCI fabrication facilities in Jebel Ali, Dubai.
Supertec is also providing a training program for J Ray McDermott Middle East technicians on tube fitting installation and safety.
The supply agreement for onshore applications is with JGC Corporation, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) house that won the Dolphin Energy contract for the gas processing plant at Ras Laffan in Qatar.
In addition to supplying large volumes of tube fittings, Parker Instrumentation is supplying JGC and its sub-contractors with a range of ball, needle and plug valves fitted with integral compression tube fitting connections.
These valves provide a simple high-integrity connection that eliminates the conventional need for taper thread connections to tubing.
