tubing
Parker Instrumentation has published a FREE guide explaining an innovative clamp which radically simplifies the installation and maintenance of process instrumentation tubing
Parker Instrumentation has published a guide to an innovative clamp which radically simplifies the installation and maintenance of process instrumentation tubing The one-piece Snap-Trap component can be fitted in seconds, reducing installation time by up to 80%, and competes with multi-piece fixing systems which necessitate the assembly of up to 12 parts

The guide details the two sizes of Snap-Trap which will clamp metric and imperial instrumentation tubing with diameters from 6 to 25 mm (1/4 to 1 inch), the range of accessories available to simplify installation including brackets, trays and rails, and concludes with drawings, notes and tips on installation.
The clamps, which comply with the Norwegian NORSOK offshore standard, are highly resistant to corrosion, and the guide additionally shows the photographic result of salt spray testing to ASTM-B117.
Made from stainless steel, Snap-Trap is a square component with a U-shaped body and a hinged top arm.
As the arm closes, it progressively grips tubing using a ratchet-style mechanism.
The flexibility of this action accommodates a wide range of tube sizes.
Tubing can also be repositioned in seconds, by releasing the ratchet.
The novel gripping action is complemented by a simple and effective means of mounting on tube and cable trays.
At the base of the clamp are small protruding feet, plus a second hinge which allows the feet to be moved together momentarily for clipping into a mounting slot.
This technique allows the clamps to be mounted, without extra components, onto cable trays, cable ladders, angle iron, etc.
The new guide is available for download from the website.
