Modular valves with extended operating life

A Parker Hannifin product story

The B Series pneumatic directional control valves incorporate a revolutionary wear compensation system, extending the operating life of the spool seals and reducing sticktion to improve response times

Parker Hannifin, the world's largest manufacturer of motion and control technology, has released an innovative new range of pneumatic directional control valves for use in a variety of factory and automation applications.

Called the B Series, the new valves incorporate a revolutionary wear compensation system, which significantly extends the operating life of the spool seals and reduces levels of sticktion, to improve response times and minimise pilot pressures.

The new B Series valve range offers compact dimensions and is designed for ease of fitting and use.

For example, direct body porting and integral mounting holes are standard, allowing the valves to be easily mounted, either individually or together on compact modular manifolds, which can be extended to accommodate changes in a machine control system.

Additionally, manifolds can be DIN rail mounted and manifold bases are also available with built-in flow controls, providing integrated cylinder speed control.

As well as simplicity of installation, the B Series features a Wear Compensating System, with each valve being fitted with dynamic bi-directional spool seals that are designed for operating on vacuum or pressure of up to 10 bar.

The seals have a specially developed profile so that valve pressure causes them to expand radially to maintain optimum sealing contact with the valve bore; this is carefully controlled so that friction and thus wear are minimised, while response times are increased.

Solenoid versions of selected valves in the B Range Series are also available, offering plant and production savings in both time, due to their extremely small installation dimensions, and money, thanks to the low energy consumption of the valves.

The solenoid valves are fitted with an interface which accepts a 15-22 mm wide solenoid and connector, depending on model, and gives protection to IP65 when fitted with a standard cable plug and IP67 when fitted with a cable plug with reinforced protection.

All are available with or without manual overrides.

The B Series valves are lightweight with an anodised aluminium body and plastic housings and pistons, and are also available with bases featuring built in flow controls to allow integrated speed controls for the cylinders.

All of the valves in the range are compliant with the requirements for component reliability in accordance with EU Machinery Directive standards EN292-2 and EN983.

In addition, they do not require lubrication, helping to reduce operating and maintenance costs still further.
