Pulsar Process Measurement has launched IMP, a compact, self-contained non-contacting ultrasonic level measurement instrument designed for reliable monitoring of both solids and liquids.

IMP benefits from very high acoustic power output and narrow beam angles, coupled with specially designed digital echo processing to give exceptional echo discrimination and superb performance on difficult applications.

IMP is extremely flexible in application, is easy to install and the standard IMP may be configured as either a two or three wire device.

In addition, there will be an intrinsically safe version of IMP.

The clever design allows simple menu-driven programming of IMP using the integral keypad and display and without compromising the IP67 rating.

IMP is only 175mm high and 130mm across, with either a 1.5 or 2 inch screw fitting on the transducer face depending on the range of the unit.

IMP comes in three ranges, 3m, 6m and 10m: the 3m IMP features a very short blanking distance (the distance in front of the transducer face that cannot be measured) of only 125mm.

For control, IMP features two alarm or control relays and a 0-10V output in 3-wire mode, and a 4-20mA output when operating as a 2-wire device.

Optional IMPview software allows IMP to be programmed, echo traces to be viewed and downloaded, and new firmware to be uploaded, allowing each IMP to be kept up to the latest software standard.

IMP fits into the Pulsar family of ultrasonic equipment, which features component systems through to highly specified control devices measuring and controlling level and open channel flow applications from 70mm right through to 40m range.
