Pulsar launches an intrinsically safe version of the popular IMP non-contact ultrasonic level measurement device, a compact, self-contained, two-wire unit with versions offering 3m, 6m and 10m range

Pulsar Process Measurement has launched an intrinsically safe version of the popular IMP non-contact ultrasonic level measurement device.

Like the rest of the IMP range, the IS IMP is a compact, self-contained, two-wire unit with versions offering 3m, 6m and 10m maximum measurement range for solids or liquids.

The minimum range (deadband) of the 3m IMP is a mere 150mm, and, like the rest of the range, the IS IMP benefits from the Pulsar well-proven digital echo processing to make sure that it performs even in difficult applications, for example dusty or turbulent environments or where there are intrusions into the path of the ultrasonic pulse.

The IS IMP is ideal for process measurement applications or for monitoring storage tanks.

Various tank shapes are pre-programmed into IMP to make it easy to monitor materials and a remote display can be driven from the 4-20mA output.

The IS version of the IMP sports a black cap to the housing to differentiate it from the green of the non-IS range.

The ATEX Specification is EEx ia IIC T4 and also meets IECEx.

All IMP units have IP67 ingress protection and are simply programmed via a 4-button interface or from a PC.

Optional IMP PC software allows a user to "clone" any number of IMP units, upload and download programming parameters, view and store echo profiles.
