Control valves for low flows in tough
places
Precise control of low flow rates is critical in many processes, including those where the environment is particularly aggressive: like the addition of corrosion and scale inhibitors on oil rigs
Precise control of low flow rates is a critical requirement in many process applications, including those where the environment is particularly aggressive A good example was where in a recent application Pump Engineering were asked to supply Badger Meter control valves for controlled addition of corrosion and scale inhibitors on oil rigs

The valves selected were Badger RC200 in AISI 316 stainless steel with a stainless steel actuator to resist the aggressive environment.
The valves resulted in trouble-free operation with minimum maintenance requirements and are part of the extensive range of Badger Control valves available from Pump Engineering.
The RC200 valve is designed for handling liquids and gases under the most arduous conditions and is available as a globe or angle pattern in either 0.25'' or 0.5'' sizes.
The compact size and with 33 different trim sizes, a Cv range from 0.0000018 to 2.5 and rangeability from 50:1 to 15:1, all make it an ideal choice for additive injection, sampling and pH control.
The valve can operate at pressures up to 5000 psi and temperatures ranging from -80C to 500C.
They can be supplied as standard in 316 stainless steel with stainless steel or Stellite trims, although alternative materials such as Monel, Hastelloy B and C, titanium and zirconium, can also be specified.
Standard packing is TFE chevron rings with graphite, while Grafoil or Kevlar are also offered as options.
The RC200 valve can be supplied with pneumatic actuators or positioners, air-to-open (ATO) or air-to-close (ATC) in die cast aluminium, with 316L stainless steel as an option.
Electric actuators and positioners can also be supplied if air is not available.
Typical applications will occur in snack flavouring, petroleum refining, chemical processing, manufacture of synthetic fuels, lubricants and in one particular unusual application, helping to control the metering of perfume into disposable nappies.
