BPT Skerman announces that the turn-key process line installed in 2007 is now a key part of the Molnlycke 'Centre of Excellence' for pharmaceutical cream production, situated in Oldham, UK

Molnlycke Heath Care, a world leading manufacturer of single-use surgical and wound care products, chose BPT Skerman to design, build and install their new pharmaceutical creams line in 2007 BPT Skerman was chosen to supply the new line for the production of an emollient cream on account of their expertise in the design and manufacture of systems for pharmaceutical processing

The new process line was built to accommodate the move of key products to the Molynlycke Oldham site and the subsequent launch of new products.

The bespoke BPT Skerman design incorporated a 1000 litre stainless steel Vac-Mix vessel, instrumentation, pumps, CIP system, operator platforms and a control system with full data collection functionality.

The accompanying system software was designed, written and validated in accordance with the GAMP 5 guidelines.

Chief Engineer for Molnlycke, Tom Varga commented "We were pleased with the build and support given in this project by BPT Skerman.

The new mixing system gives us greater control compared to the older mixing system, allowing us to increase throughput by 20%".
