Quadrant EPP has introduced Cestigreen AST, a new high-performance material designed especially for dewatering elements used by paper mills to dehydrate products during the production cycle
"Offering traceability and documented results of biocompatibility tests carried out on stock shapes provides our customers with a unique benefit," said Ermanno Nizzoli, Business Manager for Advanced Engineering Plastic Products at QEPP.
"Typically this is available only for raw materials from which the shapes are produced, and not the shapes themselves".
Specifically, QEPP LSG (Life Science Grade) stock shapes meet USP class V, VI, or ISO 10993 certification.
"This will give end-users added assurance and confidence that LSG shapes will successfully pass testing in finished products when time and money are often scarce," added Nizzoli.
"Plus, we developed our new line of stock shapes in line with industry performance requirements for stiffness and impact resistance, and to retain physical properties after repeated sterilisation by autoclaving, ionising radiation, and thermal and chemical treatment".
The company's new product line also delivers a high degree of dimensional stability over a wide temperature range and in wet and dry environments.
This helps maintain precision tolerances especially important in surgical, exploratory and analytical devices.
Typical applications for these new materials include machined components for surgical and dental instruments, analytical and monitoring components equipment, X-ray apparatus, anaesthetic and therapy components and diagnostic devices.
All Quadrant Life Science Grade products carry the LSG designation, such as Ketron PEEK LSG* and LSG-C.
Other LSG formulations include carbon-fiber reinforced Ketron PEEK-CA 30, Techtron HPV PPS, PPSU, ULTEM/PEI, RADEL/PSU, polycarbonate and Acetron POM.
The new product line is available in a wide range of sizes and shapes to ensure efficient material utilisation in machining.
Coloured shapes are also available on request.
"This new product offering delivers a unique solution to designers and engineers in the life science sector and we anticipate strong demand," Nizzoli said.
