"The visual-lean enterprise is a workplace that speaks," says Dr Galsworth.
"This conference will enable European manufacturers to listen to what their workplaces have to say".
In addition to Dr Galsworth, conference presenters include Henk Nooteboom, Owner and President of Royal Nooteboom Trailers, Peter Dobbs and Stephen Pollard of Rolls Royce, Ben Durrance from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, and George Koenigsaecker, President of Lean Investments, who led eleven multi-site lean conversions at Danaher and HON Corporation.
Two case studies presented by Rolls Royce and Lockheed Martin are scheduled for the week.
Rolls Royce will present their production system to the public for the first time in a half-day workshop entitled: "How Rolls-Royce drives enterprise excellence through visuality".
The workshop begins with an overview of the tools that Rolls Royce used on a site and global-level to drive its three-prong conversion strategy of critical path + people + visuality.
Rolls Royce will show attendees why "workplace visuality" is their key sustainment enabler.
At the Lockheed Martin half-day workshop, Ben Durrance, Director of Assembly Processes/Production Operations at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, profiles the LM-Aero production approach, explaining the compelling reasons why Lockheed Martin had to find a new way to manufacture.
He will then detail the LM-Aero tool set and the improvement infrastructure that supports its deployment.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend two plant tours.
On 9th September, they will visit Scania Trucks, located in Zwolle, The Netherlands.
Scania Trucks is a leader in the manufacture of truck cabs and engines.
They have a production system, modelled on that of Toyota, that reflects the Scania extreme expertise in modularity of design and total interchangeability of parts.
Visual devices and mini-systems are deeply imbedded in this factory production process as a major support and enabler to the site critical path flow.
Plant tour attendees will get to see mature lean principles and practices in action at Scania Trucks.
Another plant tour is scheduled for 12th September at Royal Nooteboom Trailers (RNT), located in Wijchen, The Netherlands.
RNT is the market leader in Europe in the development, manufacture, and sale of specialised transport trailers.
The RNT visual-lean conversion of the past two years has resulted in greatly reduced lead times, a visually-advanced, standards-based work environment, and an empowered workforce of visual thinkers.
Attendees will be able to see first-hand how visual-lean methodologies work in European plants.
They will then be able to take home ideas and inspiration for their own lean transformations.
The Visual-Lean Enterprise Conference takes place at the Sanadome Hotel and Spa in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
The seminars, tours, and keynote presentations at this week-long conference are the perfect opportunity for Presidents and CEOs, VPs of Operations, Improvement Managers, and Supervisors and Teams to learn about visuality in the workplace and its powerful link with lean conversions.
Attendees can choose to attend one day or stay for the week.
