The annual Rapra International Plastics Additives Conference - Addcon 2005, will take place on 21-22 September in Hamburg: an unrivalled opportunity to hear leading figures in the additives world

The EUR18 billion global plastics additives business never stays still The last few months have seen big company changes, such as the Crompton acquisition of Great Lakes Chemical, creating the largest additives supplier in the world, and the announcement of the break-up of DuPont Dow Elastomers, following re-structuring at AtoFina and Bayer and a large number of acquisitions

There has been explosive growth in the Chinese plastics market, with steady growth in India, while American and European suppliers have been faced with steep increases in their energy and raw materials costs.

The global market for additives will be reviewed by Townsend Polymer Services and Information, at the annual Rapra International Plastics Additives Conference - Addcon 2005, 21-22 September in Hamburg.

This event provides an unrivalled opportunity to hear leading figures in the additives world, including materials experts, manufacturers and researchers.

Contributions include specialists on the latest laws to affect additives and chemicals, including the implications of the EU Reach legislation.

Advances in the technology of flame retardants for specific resins such as polycarbonates will be outlined by a speaker from Flame Retardants Associates, USA, and there will be an account of the contribution of nanocomposites to flame retardant cables, with Dover Chemical discussing stabilisation and Crompton presenting its compatibilisers.

A new non-halogen flame retardant being developed in Russia is also on the agenda.

The major additive producers can be found at this event.

There are sessions on process aids and nucleating agents, stabilisation, antimicrobials, additives for impact and surface modification, and an overview of compounding and materials handling.
