Rainwater collection goes mainstream

A RainWaterHarvesting.co.uk product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Oct 29, 2008

The Rain Director has been launched by Rainwaterharvesting.co.uk to encourage the average consumer to install rainwater collection systems in their homes and gardens.

Concerns over lack of water during power cuts, pump noise, energy consumption, and unsightly or bulky control panels previously consigned existing rain collection products to the domain of big developments and the most dedicated eco homeowners.

The Rain Director was created as a low-energy, sensor-controlled, intelligent header tank system for use with any rainwater tank systems.

The system achieves energy efficiency as all water is used before the tank is refilled.

This reduces power consumption up to 10-times less than normal pump systems that refill every time water is used.

A fail-safe water supply means that during power cuts water flow will still operate via gravity and then switch automatically to mains water backup if needed.

The pump remains in the rain water tank so there is no pump noise in the house.

A streamlined control panel offers discreet functionality.

An auto-flush function detects when an occupant is away from home and empties the header tank to avoid rainwater going brackish and staining toilet bowls.

Rain Director's set-up mode lets the control unit memorise size and flow rate of mains and rain water inflow.

A Forta Duo type pump is included and there is a one-year guarantee on all parts.
