Clean and hygienic with Humbert and Pol
Humbert and Pol, leading European supplier of bucket elevator technology, have developed a new integral, bucket wash and dry system, to meet the demands of the market for clean and hygienic operations
Ever conscious of the demands of the market for clean and hygienic operations, Humbert and Pol, leading European supplier of bucket elevator technology, and marketed in the UK and Ireland by Robin Engineering, have developed a new integral, bucket wash and dry system as a standard optional extra for their complete range In many manufacturing processes the need to avoid cross contamination of different products, whether this be simply to avoid mixing colours, such as might occur when a spice producer changes from curry powder to paprika, or when a biologically active product, such as grated cheese, cannot be allowed to remain in the bucket, a complete clean down on change, or at the end of shift is essential

Removing water droplets from extruded strands
An innovative solution to the problem of removing water droplets from extruded plastic strand has been developed in the UK: the Qualconvey Vacuum Air Knife delivers the driest extruded plastic strands
Wet cleaning by hand is not only a laborious procedure, but time consuming and costly and, for this reason, Humbert and Pol determined to develop a simple, automatic method, which would not only achieve the required end result, but would also be cost effective and simple to operate.
The outcome is a series of adjustable spray heads positioned to give total coverage of buckets both inside and out, controlled by a timing feature which makes it possible to select the exposure time to the water jets of each individual bucket according to the product being cleaned out - and all in a single operation! The buckets, which move through the washing section by means of a linear drive mechanism, are held, upturned and separated to ensure that all surfaces are washed and that no water is retained.
For difficult, cohesive or oily products, where every last particle of product must be cleaned out before a new one is introduced, water pressures up to 40bar per spray head can be used with maximum temperatures of 60 degrees Celsius.

Christmas comes early for Robin, from Russia
An unexpected result from the recent K-2004 exhibition has been a technical translation contract for Robin Engineering Services from Scorpo in Russia, after initial interest in a valve sack packer!
After washing has been completed, buckets are then passed through a drying section, where they are presented in a controlled manner in a position which optimises the forced air draft from the dryer inlet.
To produce this draft, a high efficiency fan is used, so that the buckets dry quickly and gently and the machine can be returned to the duty for which it was installed.
Already the Humbert and Pol wash and dry systems have been used by manufacturers of spices and grated cheese for pizza toppings, as indicated above, as well as frozen vegetable packers, honey coated breakfast cereal and fried snack food producers with great success: and the outlook is for even more cleaning up.
