The agreement term is 4 years and it presupposed the realization of some improvements in managing and technical operating.
Both companies have the experience of successful cooperation: In 2003, Shell Global Solutions conducted the technical audit of the refinery for Sibneft.
The Omsk Refinery development programme is aimed at improving the operating and economical performance and modernisation of the plant management systems.
Sibneft intends to introduce modern technical and business solutions including the MERIT code by Shell Global Solutions, serving for improving the power effective spending.
Also, Sibneft plans to apply some unique software by Shell Global Solutions in order to improve the production control and long-term investment planning.
"We conceive that the realization of the programme in co-operation with Shell Global Solutions will strengthen the Omsk Refinery leading position in the industry and increase the plant competitiveness due to the introduction of the new approaches to cost decreasing and making the production more rational," informed the Sibneft president, Eugenij Schwidler.
According to the Greg Lewin, president of Shell Global Solutions BV, such a programme will be realized in the Russian petrochemicals for the first time.
It will help the Omsk Refinery to improve its technical performance and increase the power consuming effectiveness, which in its turn will reduce the cost substantially and increase profits.
The Omsk Refinery, located in the West Siberia, is one of the major Russian suppliers of fuel and petrochemicals.
Its capacity amounts to more than 14m t of crude/year.
