Moscow potable water hypochlorite
disinfection
Moscow potable water is to be disinfected by sodium hypochlorite, changing over from bottled chlorine
Moscow potable water is to be disinfected by sodium hypochlorite Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov has signed a corresponding decree
The main advantage of sodium hypochlorite is seen to be that it is classified as a chemical non-hazardous, non-toxic substance.
Sodium hypochlorite was approved as a water disinfection agent.
The Western, Rublevskaya, Northern and Eastern water-supply stations of Moscow will gradually switch to this substance.
Currently, the water supply stations are using chlorine to disinfect water.
The chlorine storages are located on the city territory, although chlorine is a dangerous substance.
Already in 2005, the Mosvodocanal utility will perform the feasibility study of switching the Moscow water supply stations to hypochlorite.
It will also develop an economically effective scheme of dislocation and construction of the modern hypochlorite facility.
