The latest of Read-out carries the sad news of the death of Dermot Ryan, one of the "Pioneers" of Instrumentation in Ireland, and founder of many of the instrumentation and controls businesses today

The latest of Read-out carries the sad news of the death of Dermot Ryan one of the "Pioneers" of Instrumentation in Ireland.

He devoted nearly sixty years of his life in the service of instrumentation and control, and there are not a few companies, including Read-out itself, which can trace their origin back to Dermot Ryan.

May he rest in peace.

Also included in this issue is an interesting article on e-waste by Jim Pinto that should set readers thinking.

"Now what are you going to do with your old computers?" he asks.

This issue which coincides with the annual ISA Exhibition in Cork, also features the usual mix of people, equipment and company news.

News is featured day by day on the Read-out Instrumentation Signpost at read-out.net.
