Ireland magazine looks at wireless
The latest issue of Read-out (Dec05-Jan06), Ireland's journal of Instrumentation and Control, features the latest buzzword in technology - wireless sensors
In an article in the current issue of Read-out, Andrew Bond, the respected automation industry commentator, remarks that what really "knocked the socks off" potential users at a recent conference, were the costings And Ian Verhappen, the Canadian automation communications specialist, makes the same observation in another way when he talks about the reduction in wiring costs

Buses without wires.....? Its all in Read-Out
No we aren't talking about trolley buses but about the revolution which according to an advert in the current issue of Read-out offers "limitless plant" - wireless and the ubiquitous fieldbus
"They're eliminated!" (Just like the socks - Ed).
So are we looking at a future world without wires? Only time will tell and this issue of Read-out gives some examples of products and applications.
Also in this issue is a short analysis on the Instrumentation Signpost - who's visiting it and what they are looking at.
There are also short reports, really trailers for the Signpost web-reviews, on various shows; First ISA Expo in Chicago; Second, looking forward to the mtec show in Birmingham (UK); Third an item on the increasingly impressive SPS/IPC/Drives in Nueremberg.
There is also a useful listing of control, instrumentation and automation events in the coming months both in Ireland and elsewhere in Europe and the world.
The people section is full of interest as usual: it includes a totally unbiassed report on the presentation of the ISA Ireland Pioneer Award to Eoin O Riain, publisher of Read-out and the Instrumentation Signpost.
This award is made to people who have made a distinguished contribution to the control and automation industry in Ireland: it was also presented to Eoin's late father Dermot, back in the early eighties.
Read-out is distributed every two months to in excess of 2500 named instrument professionals throughout Ireland.
