So what IS 'Automation'?
This is the provocative question posed in the leading article in the current Read-out, Ireland's journal of instrumentation, control and automation, about the name change rejected by ISA members
The question was asked in the perhaps unexpected rejection of the name change of the ISA, the Instrument, Systems, and Automation society to International Society of Automation.
This happened at the annual meeting of Society Delegates in the beginning of October.
The article examines some of the reaction and looks forward to where the society goes from here.
The Pharmatex Conference and Exhibition held in Cork had a very successful series of seminars and Read-out organised the segment which dealt with 'Wireless in the Pharmaceutical Industry'.
A brief report by the Industrial Automation Insider editor, Andrew Bond, is included.
Andrew chaired the sessions on wireless at Pharmatex.
A pictorial report on the Pharmatex Show is given on page 13.
Olso on wireless the inside front article is an examination of: 'Industrial Wireless, where do we stand?' From the pen of Jim Pinto and entitled "The Industrial Wireless Wars" this is the best wireless overview and summary you'll find anywhere.
A report on the ISA EXPO held in Houston Texas is also included and details are given of the awards to Irish professionals at this annual function.
Eamon Creech of Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Eoin O'Riain of Read-out, both long standing members of the ISA Ireland Section, were honoured.
Unique items of news on company events and people are included as usual and reports on new products available in the market place.
The final issue of Read-out for 2007 is due before Christmas.
