Olympics brewing up a storm

A Read-Out Publications product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Aug 11, 2008

Read-out headline story on National Instruments' part in monitoring the reliability and 'livability' of Olympic venues in Beijing.

What else could Read-out headline the current issue of the periodical then with something to do with the Olympic Games currently occupying most of the time of the television and radio programmes of the world.

The story concerns National Instruments' part in the monitoring of the reliability and 'livability' of the iconic Olympic venues in the Chinese capital.

The sub-story on the front page is much closer to home and concerns the world famous St James's Gate brewery home of the even more famous beverage 'Guinness' which recently achieved the AMIS (Asset Management Improvement System) gaining the coveted "World Class Operational Excellence" status.

But sure any Dublin pub aficionado would have told us that years ago! This issue of Read-out emphasised flow measurement and control and the 'InsideFront' article by David Spitzer examines the importance of a component-by-component selection process in flow measurement systems.

Other items include the complete open letter on wireless technology and HART from ABB, Emerson Process Management, Endress + Hauser and Siemens; A complete rundown on the Automation tracks of September's Pharmatex Conference being held in Cork City.

Automation products, people and company news feature as usual in this issue and a listing of courses seminars and exhibitions being held in Ireland and abroad for the next two months are also included.

The next issue of Read-out will highlight level measurement and control of solids, liquids and gases and should be distributed in late September.
